United’s Legal Department is a key business partner to the various departments at corporate headquarters and throughout the world. We provide legal advice and counsel to and on behalf of United Continental Holdings and its subsidiaries. From the station level to the Board room, the Legal Department is involved in all aspects of our business. In addition, we provide essential advice in assessing legal risks and regulatory and corporate compliance, and we offer training on important Company policies.


Composed of 42 attorneys with diverse backgrounds and experience, the Legal Department (offices located in Chicago and Houston) offers expertise and/or resources in all necessary areas of law.


The department has a staff of professionals who provide interactive support with both our external counsel and internal clients. Experienced paralegals support individual attorneys with projects such as filing permits for international locations, complying with subpoenas and agency investigations, assisting with immigration issues, coordinating small claims cases, assisting with agency enforcement actions, preparing discovery responses, and preparing for depositions in employment, civil and personal injury litigation.
